Samba

Our Samba workshop introduces participants to the instruments and rhythms of Brazil

Participants explore rhythm using body percussion (clapping, stamping etc), before being introduced to the instruments such as Surdo, Tambourim, Agogo bells, learning techniques and Brazilian rhythms.

The workshop works with up to 35 participants (1 class) per session. We can run up to 3 sessions in a half day (up to 3 hours, morning or afternoon) or up to 7 sessions in a whole day (typically 8:50am - 3:30pm).

The workshop can be adapted for a wide range of ages and abilities in nurseries, primary schools, secondary schools, SEND settings, holiday clubs, care homes, team building, museums and libraries.
Musician playing a samba whistle and agogo bells
"When we arrived at the session the instruments were laid out on the floor with good space between them. This was excellent for Year 1. This helped the smooth start to the session. The leader was clear with his instructions - he kept them short and simple, also really good for 5 year olds. The pace of the lesson was excellent - not too fast but pacy enough so the children did not get bored or restless. What was brilliant was the children got to use the instruments almost straight away. The children really enjoyed the session, as did the adults. It was a really good experience for them and gave them an excellent introduction to Samba music."
